<<  -- 3 --  Patric Standford    A TRADITIONAL APPROACH

-------------------------------

That Kelly has a gift for creating intense musical expression from the most simple ingredients is nowhere better demonstrated here than in the little carol This Lovely Lady Sat and Song, a piece crying out to be a regular item in the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from Cambridge each Christmas [listen -- track 29, 0:00-0:59].

This is an excellently produced CD, with a fine balance of sound, and John Reid's organ accompaniment comes over well throughout. There is a small error in the numbering of tracks in the booklet; the Missa Brevis is 21-25, not 26, which puts later tracks out by one. The CD cover is right, though!
