Editorial Musings with Basil Ramsey

It appears yet again that our very existence is threatened by the determination of tyrants dissatisfied with anything less than the domination of others. As old as the hills, this aggression is in direct opposition to the desire of the overwhelming majority for a peaceful life in which we enjoy living in harmony with family, friends, and the rest of the world.

What we can realistically do, either in opposition or in efforts towards peaceful coexistence, has been extensively tried down the ages with varying degrees of both success and failure. As a musician and, hopefully, law-abiding citizen, my optimism can falter in the face of centuries riddled with the agonies of bloodshed. But none of us can afford this weakness.

For us music lovers, the delights we enjoy are supreme, the qualities beyond compare. It therefore remains our challenge to demonstrate these wonders amongst all who will take note and help them to savour the miracles of music.
