Some considerable time has elapsed, dear reader, since our retreat from Sighisoara across Romania, and our hurried departure from the country via the port of Constanta and the comparative safety of Roy Goodman's yacht!!!!!!! As you can imagine, it all now seems like a bad nightmare.

Regretfully, I must report that the whereabouts of the lost pipers, or indeed of Andrei Sorin Nicolescu, remain a mystery to me. Did I hear the sound of those ancient musicians??????? Is this the music that so entranced me at the doorway to Nicolescu's apartment [listen -- Dacia Records DA17293 track 1, 0:00-1:12] ???? I've never been back to Iasi or Sighisoara, having been convalescing in Orpington Hospital for some considerable time now, but maybe it's some small consolation to you, having read this far, to learn that this experience has breathed real fire into my cello playing.

But for now, I must go ... Pip-pip!!!!!!!!!!
