Graciela Agudelo

Mexican pianist and composer Graciela Josefina Eugenia Agudelo y Murguía was born in Mexico City on 7 December 1945. She studied piano at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and composition with Héctor Quintanar and Mario Lavista at the National Conservatory of Music.

With Mexican flautist Alejandro Escuer she co-founded the contemporary music chamber group Onix Ensamble. She was chair of the Council of Music of the Three Americas, and was honorary president of the Council of Music in Mexico.

Her work includes the percussion quartet De hadas y aluxes, Celebration of Wine for flute, and Songs from the border for flute, mezzo-soprano, percussion, piano and cello.

Graciela Agudelo died on 19 April 2018, aged seventy-two.
