Mario Abramovich

Argentinian violinist and composer Mario Abramovich was born on 31 October 1926 and studied violin from the age of six with Martin Llorca. After winning a competition, he worked as a violinist at the Teatro Colón.

He was known for his connection with the tango, both as composer and violinist, and he worked with Osvaldo Fresedo, Miguel Caló, Argentino Galván, Héctor Varela, Juan d'Arienzo and Aníbal Troilo.

A founding member (from 1974) of Sexteto Mayor, Abramovich remained with the group until his death in Buenos Aires on 1 December 2014, aged eighty-eight.
