Antonio Maria Bononcini

Italian cellist and composer Antonio Maria Bononcini was born in Modena on 18 June 1677. He was the son of Giovanni Maria Bononcini and the younger brother of composer Giovanni Battista Bononcini, and both brothers studied with Giovanni Paolo Colonna.

Antonio played in Cardinal Pamphili's orchestra from 1690 until 1693, wrote the allegory La fama eroica (1698), worked with his brother for some years in Italy and at Vienna (where he got a job as Kapellmeister to a future Habsburg Emperor).

He returned to Italy in 1713 and in 1721 became maestro di cappella in hi birthplace, Modena, where he remained until his death on 8 July 1726.
