Sasa Britvic

Croatian conductor and teacher Saša Britvić was born in Zagreb on 21 June 1965. His father was poet, journalist and songwriter Drago Britvić. He studied with Igor Gjadrov at the Zagreb Academy of Music, where he later taught and became a professor.

He won first prize at the Saumur International Conducting Competition in France.

He was an inspired interpreter of a wide range of operatic, vocal and instrumental music from the baroque to the contemporary, appearing with many different orchestras and ensembles in Croatia and abroad.

He was also director of Zagreb Concert Management, and co-founder and artistic director of the Korkyra Baroque Festival on the island of Korčula.

Saša Britvić died tragically in Zagreb, taking his own life on 10 October 2015, aged fifty-one.
