Anthony Caesar

English priest, organist and composer Anthony Caesar was born in 1924, and was a chorister in Harold Rhodes' Winchester Cathedral Choir. He studied music at Magdalene College, Cambridge then trained to be an Anglican priest at St Stephen's House, Oxford.

He began his career as Canon Precentor and Vice-Dean of Winchester Cathedral. He was then Subdean of the Chapels Royal and music editor of the New English Hymnal from 1979 until 1991. After retiring from the Chapel Royal, he became an Extra Chaplain to the Royal Household.

As a composer he is best known for Missa Brevis Capella Regalis and O For a Closer walk with God.

Anthony Caesar died on 14 July 2018, aged ninety-four.
