American soprano Elisabeth Carron was born in Newark, New Jersey on 12 February 1922.
Her international career was active from the 1940s until the 1980s, and included appearances in Caracas, Tokyo and Edinburgh. In 1954 she took the part of the young woman in the first performance of Menotti's The Saint of Bleecker Street. From 1958 until 1973 she performed regularly at New York City Opera.
From 1988 until 1996 she taught voice at the Manhattan School of Music.
Elisabeth Carron died on 1 December 2016, aged ninety-four.
