Howard Cable

Canadian conductor Howard Reid Cable was born on 15 December 1920 in Toronto, and studied there at the Royal Conservatory of Music with Ernest MacMillan, Ettore Mazzoleni and Healey Willan.

He wrote, arranged and conducted music for Canadian radio and TV programmes, and his catalogue includes music for brass quintet, choir, wind ensemble/concert band, and marching band. He also hosted his own radio programme from 1971 until 1985, and guest conducted many orchestras across Canada, with his concerts usually featuring a mix of show tunes, swing, big band, pop and light classical music.

Howard Cable died on 30 March 2016, aged ninety-five.
