Jacques Castérède

Prizewinning French composer Jacques Castérède was born in Paris on 10 April 1926, and studied there at the National Conservatory - piano with Armand Ferte, composition with Tony Aubin and analysis with Olivier Messiaen.

His 1953 cantata Pandora's Box won him the Grand Prix de Rome.

His large output includes ballets, chamber music, concertos, ensemble music and symphonies, and his music receives performances in France, Germany, America and Canada.

Jacques Castérède died in Dijon on 6 April 2014, aged eighty-seven.
