Ukrainian composer Mykhaylo Ivanovych Chemberzhi was born in Izmail, in Odessa Region, on 15 July 1944.
His compositions include two symphonies, the symphonic suite The Premonition of Spring and a Concerto for Accordion and Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to his activities as a composer, he was a writer, music teacher and public figure, serving as the deputy chief of the Main Department of Culture, chairman of the Committee of the Arts and founder and first rector of the Children's Academy of Arts, all in Kyiv.
He died suddenly in Kyiv on the night of 5 March 2018, aged seventy-three.
