Arthur Fiedler

Arthur Fiedler of Boston 'Pops' fame was born in Boston, MA, USA, on 19 December 1894 and died in Brookline, MA on 7 October 1979. His father was a member of the Boston Symphony, to which son joined as a violinist after some training in Europe. Before the 'Pops' orchestra, Fiedler formed a Boston Sinfonietta which he directed for some years, until the advent of the Boston 'Pops' concerts in 1930. The success story of that venture is known worldwide.
