Kirsten Flagstad

One of the great Wagnerian sopranos of the twentieth century was Kirsten Flagstad, born in Hamar, Norway on 12 July 1895. Not until the mid-1930s was she heard outside Scandinavia, but then her international fame spread. She died in Oslo on 7 December 1962.
