Benny Goodman

A legend in his own lifetime was the American clarinettist Benny Goodman, born on 30 May 1909 in Chicago. His career was divided between jazz and classical music. Copland and Hindemith wrote concertos for him, and he was remarkable in performance of the Mozart Concerto. He died in New York on 13 June 1986.
