Frank Glazer

American pianist, composer and teacher Frank Glazer was born in Chester, Wisconsin on 19 February 1915. As a child, he was taught piano by his sister and various local musicians, and played in his brother's bands. In 1932 he went to Berlin and studied with Artur Schnabel and Arnold Schoenberg.

He had his own TV show in Milwaukee in the 1950s, he recorded the complete works of Satie on the Vox label in the 1960s, and in the 1970s he and his wife (singer Ruth Gevalt) founded the Saco River Festival in Maine. He taught at the Eastman School of Music from 1965 until 1980.

Frank Glazer died on 13 January 2015, aged ninety-nine.
