Malcolm Goldring

English conductor Malcolm Goldring was born in 1949 and studied oboe at the Royal College of Music in London.

He founded the Midland Festival Chorus in 1975 and was musical director of the Royal Leamington Spa Bach Choir from 1988 until 1995, where he was very popular. He conducted various other Midlands-based choirs including the Sitwell Singers (2007-2021), the Cavendish Singers and the Leicester-based Cecilian Singers.

A 1990 Winston Churchill Fellowship facilitated study of the development of youth and children's choirs in Canada and the USA.  From 1999 he was chief executive of the British Federation of Young Choirs.

He conducted the BBC Philharmonic, the English Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Swan, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. He was also a published composer of choral music.

Malcolm Goldring died on 12 May 2021, aged seventy-two, from pancreatic cancer.
