Dmytro Hnatyuk

Ukrainian baritone and theatre director Dmytro Hnatyuk was born in Mămăești, Romania on 28 March 1925. He studied at Kiev Conservatory and sang at the Kiev Opera and Ballet Theatre. Later he worked as a director, and was head of various societies and committees. He also received many awards, including Hero of Ukraine (the nation's highest decoration).

In addition to his musical activities, he was a member of the Ukrainian Parliament.

Dmytro Hnatyuk died on 29 April 2016, aged ninety-one.
