Ilja Hurník

Czech composer and essayist Ilja Hurník was born in Poruba on 25 November 1922 and studied at the Prague Conservatory and with Ilona Štěpánová-Kurzová at the Prague Academy of Arts.

Three of his works from the 1950s have been recorded, on the Supraphon and Cedille Records labels.

He died on 7 September 2013, aged ninety.
