Joan Hammond

One of the most celebrated operatic sopranos of her time was Joan Hammond, a New Zealander who lived from 24 May 1912 until 26 November 1996. Her musical training was as a violinist in Sydney, yet she turned to singing and amassed an international reputation, mostly in Europe.
