Bohumil Kulínský

Czech conductor Bohumil Kulínský was born in Prague on 5 May 1959, to parents who were both choral conductors. He studied at the Prague Conservatory and the Janacek Academy of Performing Arts.

From the age of sixteen he was a choirmaster of the children's choir Bambini di Praga, and from 1986 of the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic, where he was chief conductor from 1989 to 1990. He also conducted in Japan, North America and other European countries, including France, Germany, Poland, Portugal and Switzerland.

In 2004 he was arrested for forty-nine cases of sexual abuse of children during the period 1984-1994, although he always denied the charges. In 2009 he was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison, and he served half of this time, being released on parole in 2011. He was also banned from working with children for ten years.

Bohumil Kulínský was found dead in an apartment in Prague on 15 September 2018, aged fifty-nine.
