Israel Kastoriano was born in Istanbul, where he began studying piano. Later he studied at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem and the Mannes College of Music in New York, graduating with highest honours in piano and orchestral conducting. He worked extensively as pianist and conductor during his seven year stay in the USA. As well as working as a piano soloist, chamber musician and vocal accompanist, he is the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra's pianist and keyboard player.
