Leslie Anne Lewis

American conductor and teacher Leslie Anne Lewis is the coordinator of Roehampton Music, conductor of the Roehampton University Orchestra and Choirs, and a lecturer on the conducting modules for the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Roehampton University, in London UK. She has also lectured on topics in performance and historical studies for the Royal College of Music, Kingston University, Hong Kong University SPACE, the University of Wisconsin, and Royal Holloway University of London.

As a conductor, she has worked with ensembles that range from groups of nursery children to professional musicians, and has led performances at many UK venues including The Royal Albert Hall, Hampton Court Palace, Ham House, and Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. She has also conducted at several international festivals including The Long Island Choral Festival, and served as director for the Choral and Opera Workshop at Chautauqua Institution for five summer seasons. She is currently Musical Director for Mayhem Opera, which is dedicated to the performance of contemporary chamber operas.

In addition to teaching and conducting, she is currently working on a PhD at Royal Holloway on a topic that involves redefining the role of the modern conductor. She is also a teacher of the Alexander Technique, and is dedicated to exploring, through her teaching and conducting, how the ideas of the technique improve performance.
