Paco de Lucía

Spanish flamenco composer, guitarist and producer Paco de Lucía (Francisco Gustavo Sánchez Gomes) was born at Algeciras in Andalusia on 21 December 1947.

He was known for his fast flamenco scalic passages, for alternating these with finger strumming, for successfully crossing over into other styles such as classical and jazz, and for helping to get flamenco accepted by the Spanish establishment.

He died from a heart attack, aged sixty-six, on 25 February 2014, whilst on holiday with his family at Playa del Carmen in Mexico
