Yasmin Levy

Israeli Ladino singer Yasmin Levy was born at Bakaa on 23 December 1975. She learnt piano from the age of six until she was eighteen, but didn't begin singing seriously until she was twenty. Her first public performance, aged twenty-one, was as a guest singer in a concert given by her mother Kochava. Levy's appearance at WOMEX 2002, her international début, launched her singing career. Her style is influenced by that of her father, Yitzhak Levy, who died when she was one year old. His heritage was passed on to Yasmin by her mother. Yasmin Levy's fourth CD, Sentir, was released in 2009. Further information at www.yasminlevy.net
