Nicholas Merryweather

Nicholas Merryweather studied at University College London, the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne and on the opera course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.  Since leaving the Guildhall in 2007 he has sung for Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, British Youth Opera and English Touring Opera, as well as regular recitals and concerts in Britain and abroad.  He was the winner of the Glyndebourne Wessex Award in 2008 and is the current recipient of the ETO Chris Ball Bursary.  He continues to study with Jennifer Caron.

His oratorio repertoire includes Mendelssohn's Elijah, Handel's Messiah, Orff's Carmina Burana, Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony, Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem and the Fauré and Duruflé Requiems.

Merryweather has sung the title roles in Don Giovanni and Le Nozze di Figaro for Longborough Festival Opera, Marco (Gianni Schicchi), Starveling (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Elviro (Xerxes) and Mr Fox in Tobias Picker's Fantastic Mr Fox (all for English Touring Opera) as well as Don Polidoro in Cimarosa's L'Italiana in Londra for Bampton Classical Opera and the Buxton Festival.
