Prolific as a composer, Christian Sinding was born in Kongsberg, Norway on 11 January 1856 and eventually studied in Germany. He returned to live in Norway in 1882 and resided in Oslo, apart from a short period teaching in America in the early twenties. It was in Oslo that he died on 3 December 1941. There are over two hundred songs as well as piano music (with the ever-popular Rustle of Spring), and symphonies, concertos, and an opera.
