Josef Strauss
Josef Strauss was born in Vienna on 22 August 1827, second son of Johann Strauss I. His chosen career was as an architect, although he studied music secretly. He eventually formed his own orchestra, and is to this day better known for his polkas than his waltzes. He died in Vienna on 21 July 1870.
