Walter Susskind

Born in Prague on 1 May 1913, the pianist and conductor Walter Susskind became known in the thirties as an opera conductor in Europe. His postwar career was amongst symphony orchestras in Australia and Britain (where he became a naturalised citizen), then Canada and finally to the St Louis SO in America. He died on 25 March 1980.
