Donald Francis Tovey
The English composer, pianist and scholar Donald Tovey was born on 17 July 1875 at Eton and died in Edinburgh on 10 July 1940. Tovey's programme notes for his Reid concerts in Edinburgh became famous and were later published as Essays in Musical Analysis.
