Jean-Yves Thibaudet

French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet was born in Lyon on 7 September 1961 to musical parents and was introduced to the piano by his mother. He studied at the Lyon Conservatoire from the age of five, winning a gold medal, and then with Aldo Ciccolini and Lucette Descaves at the Paris Conservatoire. At eighteen he won the New York Young Concert Artist Auditions.

He has performed internationally with many leading orchestras and has made more than forty recordings for Decca Records. In 2001 he became a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
