Tom Taffinder is currently studying French horn as an undergraduate at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. He grew up on a farm on the south coast of Cornwall, near the small seaside village of Portscatho, where his family run a farm shop. Tom started playing the horn aged eight and has since played in many ensembles, including most recently Cardiff Sinfonietta.
In 2009 he was awarded the Shaun Thomas memorial award for most promising young brass musician in Cornwall. He then successfully auditioned for a place at the RWCMD. Since then he has taken a very active role in college ensembles, such as the Symphony and Chamber Orchestras and the Brass Ensemble.
Tom has always had a passion for writing and enjoys combining this with his love of music.
