Manchester Chamber Concerts Society has announced that Kathryn Stott has agreed to become its new Artistic Director. Kathryn Stott is well-known to audiences in Manchester and beyond as a world-renowned concert pianist, and one who has a keen interest in chamber music. As well as her extensive performance career, she has a long-standing interest in artistic direction, having planned the Fauré Festival at the Free Trade Hall in 1995 and both the Piano 2000 and Piano 2003 Festivals at Bridgewater Hall. Stott expects soon to start planning concerts for the 2009-10 MCCS season. Manchester Chamber Concerts Society was founded in 1936, and has a reputation as the promoter of one of the most important regional series of chamber music.
