Giovanni streaming

The Helsinki Festival production of Mozart's opera Don Giovanni will be live streamed by LiveMusicStage on Tuesday 20 August, Thursday 22 August and Saturday 24 August 2013. All performances begin at 7pm Helsinki time, 5pm London time and 12 noon New York time.

In this unprecedented production, the cast of affluent young people at parties are constantly filming themselves and each other. The images and videos they capture using their Nokia PureView phones are an integral part of the performance and the presentation to the audience. By incorporating cutting edge mobile technology into this traditional opera presentation, New Generation Opera provides a uniquely modern twist to a traditional art form. Performers will be members of the New Generation Opera Ensemble. Don Giovanni will be sung by Waltteri Torikka, with Tapani Plathan as Leporello, Timo Riihonen as Il Commendatore, Ida Falk Winland as Donna Anna, Joska Lehtinen as Don Ottavio, Anna Danik as Donna Elvira, bass Nicholas Soerlund as Massetto and soprano Malin Christensson as Zerlina. Ville Matvejeff will conduct the Tapiola Sinfonietta. The production director is Erik Soderblom.

This Helsinki Festival production ( of Mozart's setting of this immortal tale will be performed in Italian with subtitles in English.
