Livorno Festival

The Livorno Music Festival (25 August until 8 September 2014), sponsored by 'Amici della Musica di Livorno', provides courses for interpretation and instrumental masterclasses for the purpose of bringing together young musicians from all over the world, allowing them close contact with some of the most important names on the international music scene.

Students and professors meet each other at classes, concerts and, thanks to an agreement with the festival, they can also share lunches and dinners, facilitating ideas, friendships, projects and cultural exchanges.

The festival features eleven masterclasses from internationally known performers and music professors, including a guitar masterclass with Roland Dyens in the Villa della Gherardesca from 25-31 August.

During the course of the festival, instrumentalists, chamber music groups and singers will be selected to perform in Livorno, and also in the Scuola di Musica di Feisole's 2015 concert programme.

Composers at the festival will have the chance to write string music for Quartetto Eco, in residence at the composition class, and have their music performed at the final concert. The best composition will also be performed in the Scuola di Musica di Feisole's 2015 series, and the selected composer will be given other additional opportunities.

Scholarships are also being offered at a total value of 2,500 euros.
