'... a truly outstanding recital ...'

Volupté - music for viola and piano. Roger Benedict, viola and Timothy Young, piano. Stephen Gutman, piano. © 2010 Melba Recordings

Melba Recordings is providing CD exposure for some of the finest OZ musicians. At the same time it has shown a marked emphasis on French composers; Ravel, Vierne, Chausson, Saint-Saëns, Massenet and now Koechlin (1867-1950) alongside neighbouring Belgian organist and composer, Marie-Alphonse-Nicolas-Joseph Jongen (1873-1953).

Here Melba introduces one of its most outstanding releases, distinguished with superlative, glowing performances by an expressive, discerning, musically consummate duo partnership.

Eight minutes of trio miniatures (viola, piano and horn) add further to the appeal of a truly outstanding recital, magnificently recorded (and not for a moment missing Melba's more customary SACD format).

The performing spotlight here is on violist Benedict...
