Tugrul Karatas: Anatolian Symphonic Suite; Anatolian Guitar Concerto. © 2010 MEM Productions

This curiosity seems to be Part 2 of three CDs collectively titled The Istanbul 2010 Trilogy.

Part 1 consists of the Yunus Emre Symphony while Part 3 includes two works: The Istanbul Symphony and Bediuzzaman New Age.

Separate sections in the preceding two compositions are: Europe; Asia; Golden Horn; Dede Efendi; Beyoglu; Bosphorus; Uskudar (Istanbul Symphony) and Old Said; Seclusion Days; New Said (Bediuzzaman New Age).

Today the municipality of Istanbul can boast two major orchestras: the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra (established in 1999) and the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra (established in 1945).

The former is set up and run along 21st century lines...
