A Brave Show Choral music by Sibelius - heard by ROBERT ANDERSON '... much here to surprise and fascinate ...'

Sibelius can never have desired a more complete version of his choral music than this. Indeed some of the pieces might well have embarrassed him. Nevertheless, I now feel strongly tempted to unearth my sole composition, a fugue that proved prelude to a debilitating attack of flu. Andrew Barnett has sorted the formidable corpus, as he did also in his Sibelius biography. There he adopted a chronological sequence; here he sorts mainly by medium (male voices, mixed choir, female or children's chorus) in the disc sequence, but by language in the description of the music...
