Schubert's early symphonies really ought to be heard more often. They may not be particularly profound or weighty, but they are delightfully entertaining.

Viva opened their concert [Sinfonia Viva, Assembly Rooms, Derby UK, 23 November 2010] by nicely capturing the youthful exuberance of Symphony No 2, aided particularly by the strings' crisp articulation in the first and last movements...
