'... magically moving individual lines and harmonies.'

Pierre Moulu. The Brabant Ensemble / Stephen Rice. © 2010 Hyperion Records Ltd

During the last twelve years the Brabant Ensemble has been researching the works of early Renaissance composers, while Hyperion had planned CDs of seldom-heard music from the mid-sixteenth century composers such as Nicolas Gombert, Tomas Creuquillon and Pierre de Manchicourt.

Hyperion's latest CD by the Brabant Ensemble concentrates on works of Pierre Moulu.

It is strange that during the 1500-1550 period such vast amounts of vocal music existed and are only now being revived.

Moulu's music might have similarly vanished had his scores not been protected among 'numerous early manuscripts and prints ...'

Even so, the Brabant Ensemble director, Stephen Rice, and his eleven singers, found it hard work bringing Moulu's music to life after some six hundred years of neglect...
