Derby Choral Union

 

Derby Choral Union and conductor Richard Dacey responded well to a mixed bag of works in their spring concert (Derby Cathedral, Derby, UK, 16 April 2011).

They gave Malcolm Williamson's Procession of Palms their best shot, but the piece hasn't worn at all well in the forty years since it was written. Similarly, in spite of the warmth of the choir's singing, Howard Goodall's Love Divine is probably unrescuable from its blanket of cloying sentimentality...
