-------------------------------

The stage setting was simple, twelve folding chairs, two stands, plus a piano and a bit of furniture for Puccini to walk around. Soprano soloists, a lyric Andrea Anelli and a richly voiced Madeline Abel-Kerns and tenors, a passionate J R Fralick and commanding Seungwook Ryu, alternated presenting selections from what might called 'Puccini's Greatest Hits' such as Le Villi, Edgar, Manon Lescaut, La bohème, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, La Fanciulla del West, La Rondine, Gianni Schicchi and Turandot. These soloists, all with impressive professional credentials, were both personable and authoritative as they gloried in some of the most melodic and touching (and easiest to 'get') works found in opera.
