Music commissioned by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales for a family concert, and inspired by a series of letters written by the composer's mother as a young woman in the 1950s, during her adventures in Africa where she had been sent to oversee mission schools in a large area of Tanganyika (now Tanzania).
