Paul Zicheng Fu

Chinese-born composer Paul Zicheng Fu was born in 1928 and graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in 1952.

He was assistant professor of piano, theory and composition at the Studio of Music at Qing Hua University in Beijing (1954-1978), and in 1978 began teaching at the Music Department of the Beijing Teacher's College, where he was associate professor of theory and composition until 1988.

In 1991, Fu worked in Canada as a substitute piano teacher and accompanist for ballet classes at Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta. From 1991 until 1994 he studied at the University of Calgary, obtaining a Master's Degree in Composition.

A few works are in the catalogue of the Canadian Music Centre, including the String Quartet No 2, a Rondo for clarinet, violin, cello and piano, a Violin Sonatina, a Piano Sonata, Fifteen folksongs of the west Hunan, Four songs for girls chorus and In the woods, a song cycle for solo voice.
