Juan Carlos Zorzi

Argentinian composer and conductor Juan Carlos Zorzi was born in Buenos Aires on 11 November 1936. His composition teachers included Alberto Ginastera, and two of his operas were premiered at Teatro Colón.

Conducting appointments included music directorships of Cuyo University Symphony Orchestra, Cordoba Symphony Orchestra and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Chile. He was resident director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá and chief conductor of the Rosario Provincial Symphony Orchestra. He was credited, as interim director of the Argentine National Symphony Orchestra in the early 1980s, with helping the orchestra survive during difficult times.

Zorzi died in the city of his birth on 21 August 1999.
