New Handel

British musicologist Rachel Cowgill has discovered a previously unknown Mozart adaptation of Handel's Judas Maccabaeus. The Leeds University researcher was investigating scores collected by William Priestley, now held by Calderdale Council, Halifax, UK. The score, which is not in Mozart's hand, is thought to have been bought in Leipzig in the early 1800s by an English clergyman.
