Boulez embarrassment

A comment made by French composer and conductor Pierre Boulez in the 1960s has returned to embarrass him ...

Whilst working in Basle, Switzerland in November 2001, Boulez fell victim to a dawn anti-terrorist raid - one of many in Europe since the events of 11 September 2001. He was arrested by Swiss Police and detained for several hours.

The Swiss authorities were reacting to a comment made by the musician in his younger days - that he thought opera houses should be blown up. The Swiss had decided that this 60s viewpoint made 75 year-old Boulez a security threat.
