Boris Goldovsky

American conductor, opera teacher and radio announcer Boris Goldovsky died on 15 February 2001, aged 92. During his long life, Goldovsky was director of the New England Conservatory of Music's Opera Department, founder of the Goldovsky Opera Theater (originally the New England Opera Theater) and director of the Tanglewood Music Center Opera Program. He entertained Met Opera broadcast listeners with illustrated interval talks and interviews, and was an early advocate of the now common practice of opera performances in English translation.
