Marcel Prawy

Austrian script editor, producer, manager and speaker Marcel Prawy died on 23 February 2003, aged 91.

Born on 29 December 1911 in Vienna, Prawy studied music with Egon Wellesz, and made friends with Leonard Bernstein when he moved to the USA during World War II. He became known to the Austrian public as an opera guide, appearing on radio and TV to talk about music. His interest in musicals led a staging in Vienna of Cole Porter's Kiss me Kate.
