Nikolaus Lahusen
Following a long battle with cancer, the German-born pianist Nikolaus Lahusen died in Bremen in May 2005, aged 44. He was born in Bremen and won numerous awards, among them the 2001 German Critics Prize for his recordings of the later piano sonatas of Liszt. He also dedicated himself to the recording of the complete piano works of Mikalojus Ciurlionis. He performed nationally and abroad and also taught at the Bremen Music Academy.
